After a year living in a Los Angeles collective house with some of my best friends and favorite artists, I moved into a strange two bedroom apartment in Chinatown. There was a de facto “landlord”, an older Cambodian man who had been living on the couch for 8 years and renting out the rooms for cheap to students. I’m pretty sure he was a prostitute.

I spent a lot of time alone and during my free hours I recorded the majority of the album Chinatown. The name is an homage to this period of soul searching that came after an intense year living in a new city with a whole new cast of friends and lovers.

Chinatown has solid guitar pop hooks and some of my very best vocal performances to date. I had a lot of fun producing it with Dan Horne. Most of the tracks on Side One were written immediately upon moving to LA, and Side Two is 2013 material written in the same vein.
